Softball Games

Theron has really enjoyed softball season. We actually won our first regular season game last week and lost narrowly on Thursday. Theron and Ella were the only two toddlers there this week, but usually there is quite a crew with the Barretts, Reeds, Cheathams, etc. So, here are some of the two cohorts in crime (siblings in snacks, denizens of dirt, aiders of applause, okay, enough already here's the pics . . .)

Day 3 - City Museum

I can't recommend the City Museum enough! It was wonderful -- although you could lose a kid in a hurry in there! They have a three story slide (more on that shortly), an airplane you can climb in that is about 8 stories off the ground, caves, arts & crafts, tunnels and mazes of all sorts! After sliding down the three story slide, Theron proceeded to slide on his belly through the bumpers adjacent to the slide (pic above)! They were only high enough for him to slither through and they were about 10 or 12 feet long! The girls at the ticket counter were watching in amazement -- apparently no kid small enough to fit through there has ever been brave/crazy enough to try it! I guess he thought it was no big deal after all the other tunnels and crevices we had climbed through that day . . . of course, it didn't occur to us until afterward what would we have done if he'd gotten stuck -- not that he gave us a chance to stop him! We had some great root beer and food and watched the bottling process at Fitz's Bottling Company after touring the museum. Then we decided to do a bit of shopping. Union Station used to be a wonderful place to shop. There are barely any stores there now! Theron liked the train exhibit, and they had a helicopter ride he enjoyed, but the shopping was a big disappointment. We headed back to the hotel for a swim instead.

St. Louis Day 2 -- Grant's Farm and Cardinals Game

On Tuesday, we toured Grant's Farm where the highlights for T-Mac were riding on the tram (the TRAIN, he insists), feeding the goats, watching the elephants and animal shows. He thought it was funny that the goats tried to suck on his shirt. He also enjoyed the carousel ride (although next time he wants to ride the dragon, not the horse). The Clydesdales were "big." The ball park was also a big hit. He loved the "shooting stars" (fireworks) after home runs were hit and thought the combination of hot dogs and a special treat of Coke were great. If that wasn't enough sugar (believe me, it was!), he also had Cardinal's ice cream! The Cardinals lost, be he still had a great time and we came back with an Ankiel shirt to match his hat (although Rick was out due to an injury the night before).

St. Louis - Day 1 at the Zoo

Theron had a great time looking at all of the animals at the zoo. He really liked the monkeys (of course), the penguin and puffin exhibit and riding in the Jeep in the Children's zoo section. In the Jeep, he first asked for some coins to make it work, then decided he needed a key! We discovered he is taller than a koala bear, but smaller than a river otter and pygmy goat, that he thinks snakes are cool, and that hippos are disgusting . . .

Afternoons with Lexi and Aidan

This is what the kids do every afternoon -- take a peaceful nap . . . . in my dreams!
